Student Factory Visit – Multek

To enrich students’ knowledge and interest of the PCB industry, HKPCA and Hong Kong Polytechnic University jointly organized the first Factory Visit on June 5, 2008. There were over 20 professors and students visited Multek Zhuhai Factory. We hereby would like to thank Multek for its generous hosting and great support.

On that day, we took off at 8:30 from HK by Ferry and Multek arranged the shuttle bus to bring us directly to the factory. After arrival, Ms Ivy Wong, Senior Vice President of Multek Hong Kong Ltd and Chairman of HKPCA Publications Subcommittee delivered a brief and concise presentation. Then, we divided into 3 groups and started the first stop of visit - the manufacturing process of mobile phone PCB board and the Flex / Flex-rigid PCB board. After a light lunch, we visited another production section – the base station PCB board which consists of big panels and with high-layer count.

After the whole day trip, students gained more understanding of the PCB industry. Most of them indicated great interest in this industry. Professors also expressed their appreciation of arranging this event because such activity increased students’ understanding of the actual practical workplace. They hoped that similar activity could be arranged to add practical elements to complement their academic knowledge.
